Situated in the North Eastern heart of the Lake District National Park, Rosie's Barn is an authentic, romantic retreat for couples who are looking for an exclusive holiday experience.

Sleep in one of the quietest hamlets in Cumbria, waking to hear nothing more than the occasional sheep in nearby fields. And yet you have a wide range of wonderful walks and rambles right on your doorstep. Enjoy a leisurely bimble along the River Lowther to one of the local pubs or get your boots on and enjoy hiking legendary fells such as High Street or Hellvelyn. Picturesque villages can be found within a short drive, not to mention famous tourist attractions such as Haweswater or Ullswater and its steamers.

We're not a hotel because we don't have a reception desk or spa or bar. We're not a B & B because the barn is all yours, not where we live too.

If you like timber beams, exposed stonework, peace and quiet, warm rooms and romantic breaks then this is the place for you.

We're very much part of the Cumbrian community, which is why we're delighted to support the North West Air Ambulance Charity. Guests are welcome to add to our donation via the collection tin in the kitchen; your money is used to support the incredible work they do by taking advanced healthcare quickly and efficiently to emergency situations here.



We have three lovely dogs - Springers Molly and Buddy, and a cockerpoo called Jack. We also had Oscar who we rescued back in 2017 from the North West English Springer Rescue Charity. The work they do is wonderful, finding perfect owners for Springers who need to be re-homed through no fault of their own. That's why each year we support their fundraising raffle by donating a two-night gift voucher for Rosie's Barn as a prize.

Our area is affected by very little crime - and we would like to keep it that way!

We have installed CCTV to cover the external areas only around Rosie’s Barn to help our guests feel safe and secure.

The images are recorded on a secure, encrypted system and overwritten every two weeks.
