Sleep in Butterwick, one of the quietest hamlets in Cumbria, waking to hear nothing more than the occasional sheep in nearby fields. And yet you have a wide range of wonderful walks and rambles right on your doorstep. Enjoy a leisurely bimble along the River Lowther to one of the local pubs or get your boots on and enjoy hiking legendary fells such as High Street or Hellvelyn. Picturesque villages such as Bampton can be found within a short walk, not to mention famous tourist attractions such as Haweswater or Ullswater and its steamers.
We're not a hotel because we don't have a reception desk or spa or bar. We're not a B & B because the barn is all yours, not where we live too.
If you like timber beams, exposed stonework, peace and quiet, warm rooms and romantic breaks then this is the place for you.
Our Charity Partners
We're very much part of the Cumbrian community, which is why we're delighted to support Penrith Mountain Rescue. Guests are welcome to add to our donation via the collection tin in the kitchen. Your money is used to support the incredible work they do; it is entirely made up of unpaid volunteers who are on call 24/7 365 days a year, to help rescue and save the lives of those in need in and around our patch.

Our area is affected by very little crime - and we would like to keep it that way!
We have installed CCTV to cover the external areas only around Rosie’s Barn to help our guests feel safe and secure.
The images are recorded on a secure, encrypted system and overwritten every two weeks.
