About Us

Rosie's Barn

At Rosie's Barn, you can expect a cosy and intimate setting designed specifically for couples. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply want to spend quality time together, this retreat offers a romantic atmosphere where you can relax and unwind.

Staying in the countryside doesn't mean you have to compromise on luxury or quality. Our historic charm is matched with excellent wi-fi connectivity, a Smart TV, underfloor heating throughout (including the shower room), amazing bed linen and soft, fluffy towels.

Rosie's Barn has been created to provide a bespoke hotel experience for just one couple at a time. From the moment you arrive, it's time to relax. Whether that's toasting marshmallows on the wood burner or soaking with blissful bubbles in the large, freestanding bath with views of Knipe Scar fell, it's all about taking time out with someone who matters.

Everything you need for a full Cumbrian breakfast (and yes, we're happy to do a veggie or vegan alternative) will be left in the fully-fitted kitchen, so you can eat what you want, when you want, how you want it.

Dogs welcome

We know that for many people, enjoying the Lake District is much more fun with your favourite doggy so well-behaved pooches are welcome to stay with you, although we do have a few rules that you'll need to agree to.

Unfortunately Rosie's Barn isn't suitable for babies or children, or those with restricted mobility as the bedroom is upstairs.

Electric Vehicles welcome too!

We fully support initiatives to reduce the impact our lives have on the environment, which is why we particularly welcome guests who drive cars that are greener and cleaner for our lovely Lake District air. With this in mind, we have a rapid charge facility available for our guests, which is free to use whilst staying with us.

Who was Rosie?

My grandma was called Rose, but everyone knew her as Rosie. The eldest girl of 13 children, who were all sent to orphanages across London because her mother died young and her father was blind and not able to look after them all.
Rosie felt it was her role to keep the children together somehow, and at the age of 14 she would spend every Sunday travelling across the city to make sure they all kept in touch.
She started work as a seamstress and never stopped believing that she would have the family life she wanted. Rosie met my grandfather Reuben, married and had two daughters with him. They left London during WWII and made their home in Nottingham.
Rosie believed in family, she believed in love, she believed in making the most of what life brings to us.
That's why this wonderful retreat is named after her.
